這幾天和 HighPoint 聯絡的結果，沒有什麼好消息可說的…
一開始寄了一隻 diskpwr 的程式要我在 dos 下面執行，但執行的結果卻顯示此硬碟不支援 Spin Up，訊息如下：
這一招顯然是失敗了…接下來又寄給我一隻測試程式，測試完把結果傳給他看，沒想到他看完竟然說一切正常

接下來開始懷疑我的硬碟有問題，要我去 WD 抓程式來對硬碟做測試。但是現在的情況是，硬碟直接接在主機板上，主機板抓不到，連帶有作業系統的硬碟也無法開機。
而接在外接盒上，一定要做 raid ，系統才抓的到，WD測試程式才抓的到…
看來HighPoint不能給我任何幫助，再來就是向 WD 尋求協助了(但我是不會放過 HighPoint的)
以下的內容只是 (二)再加上英文旁白而己，這些內容就是我向 WD 提出協助時，附上的問題描述：==========================================
Rocket 2224 打開 Staggered Spin Up 後，系統抓不到硬碟的問題
(After enable Rocket 2224 “Staggered Spin Up",the motherboard can’t get harddisk’s information)
電腦軟體、硬體列表：
Software、Hardware List:
Dell SC430
256mb ecc ram *4
Rocket 2224
Netstor NA700C 外接盒(raid box)
WD3200KS *4
FreeBSD 5.4r
問題描述：
(Problem Description)
一開始依照手冊上安裝 FreeBSD 5.4r，使用 raid 5 一切正常，但卻發現一個容量不符的問題如下：

一開始以為是FreeBSD對於大容量磁碟無法支援，但後來得知 UFS2 己經可以突破 2T的限制，所以此問題不是出在 BSD上。
便進入 2224 上面找是否有設定錯誤，此時看到 Staggered spin up 選項，在 enable 此功能後，重新開機，卻發現己經無法開機。
(at the begining, i though it’s was the FreeBSD disk limit,but i have see the document that’s UFS2 has already over 2TB,so this is not FreeBSD problem.

因為無法開機，只好嘗試重新安裝，接下來是重新安裝時的畫面
(after set the “Staggered spin up",system can’t boot,so i just trying to reinstall the system.)
顯示 fail to start channel (4,5,6,7)，抓不到硬碟
(but it’s show “fail to start channel (4,5,6,7)", can’t found the harddisk)
進入安裝畫面時，也會顯示找不到磁碟，無法安裝。
(at the install screen, it’s show no disk found,so i can’t continue install)
此時將 Rocket 2224 拔除，將硬碟單獨裝上主機板上之 sata，顯示畫面如下：

再附上一個正常抓到硬碟的畫面

在剛剛的測試時，我發現一個現象，在外接盒裡的4顆硬碟接在主機板上不只是BIOS抓不到，
而且也沒有正常硬碟馬達運作的震動，似乎要透過 staggered spin up 去喚醒硬碟，才會開始運作。
(after these test,i have found that the four harddisk attached to raid card are not only can’t recognized by the BIOS but also not spin up. it’s looks need power up by “staggered spin up")
2006/04/11 補充測試
今天突然想到，為了更加肯定問題是出在硬碟本身，做了這一個補充測試
把SC430 本身的160GB硬碟裝進入外接盒中，測試 FreeBSD 是否能抓到硬碟，測試圖如下
(the last test is install the harddisk which didn’t make “Staggered Spin Up" enable before,after i install it on raid card,it’s works fine.)
由此可以證明，之前接在外接盒上的四顆硬碟，都因為 Staggered Spin Up 的關係，無法正常啟動
( the last test proof that the “Staggered spin up" are really make some changes to harddisk, and can’t working under directly attached to motherboard)
